https://youtu.be/_5r4loXPyx8 We love to see this kind of stuff appearing around the school. Will you the next class to take on the challenge of helping the environment?
Today at lunch a few representatives attended the 'change your world fair' and had a great success. The interest shown by some of the students in our school was very inspiring. The fair showed lots of great ways to positively impact our society, we hope you had the chance to stop by.
Why is there so much waste littered everywhere we go? Who is the cause of this? Here at Nantyr we acknowledge these habits and are trying to create change but we need your help. Please comment below to share some ideas as to why you think people litter and how we may be able to improve it.
TODAY IS THE DAY! You've heard it on the announcements, you've seen the posters and now its time to act. We hope you made plans to catch a ride with a group of your friends or to take a day to enjoy this sunny morning. Conserve energy and reduce the carbon footprint produced by Nantyr. DON'T MISS OUT!
The night before the waste audit, clear bags were placed in specific classrooms around the school. 24 hours later we went around and collected them to audit the amount of waste that ended up in various paper and recycling bins. Jessica Kukac visited the school to assist with our audit. She gave us various tips on how to make our recycling more efficient. We need to start putting plastic utensils in the garbage, put plastic bags in the garbage and make sure to check the numbers on all recycling containers. If they are number 6, they must be placed in the garbage. To view our results copy the link below into your browser!

"Help CONSERVE ENERGY! Turn off some of your lights and challenge yourself to 1 hour device free today! <3 ECOS" It took almost 2 hours but all in all it was worth it. Teachers left the message on the board for the entire week and in some classes, teachers assured that students left their phones in their bags for the span of the class. We hope that this encouraged everyone to focus on conserving energy in their day to day life. Today was GARBAGE PICK UP DAY!!! If you looked out your classroom window during period 4 you would have seen our terrific ECOs group walking around picking up garbage and cleaning up our school yard. We successfully gathered 4 large bags of waste from our school yard to be properly sorted. Just a reminder to throw out your garbage and to keep nature clean, reduce the trace you leave.
For the next 5 days members of our ECOs club will be in the halls handing out candy rewards to any students using a reusable lunch container and water bottle. The waste produced from our lunches and snacks is a major factor to our schools waste output. Not only with garbage and recycling but with leftover foods as well. Become aware and challenge yourself to produce less waste.
